Personal music players are used daily by millions of people, including large numbers of children and young people.

Tuesday 3rd November 2009

Music from these players (e.g. MP3 players, iPods and mobile phones) can reach very high volumes and is recognised as potentially damaging to hearing. In a move designed to protect children and young people, new EU rules will ensure that all MP3 players and music-playing phones include noise limiting controls. The RNID has worked with the EU to develop the new rules. As yet there is no date set for the rules to come into force.
